Who'd
have thought it? Leicester, one year after impossibly clawing their way
from the grasps of relegation, have defied 5000/1 odds to win the
Barclays Premier League.
There
aren't many words to describe the scale of their achievement, but here
are nine of their best moments in this absolutely stunning campaign...
Before Leicester had started convincing the world they could win the league, this man was grabbing the headlines.
After
he scored against Manchester United, he broke former Red Devil Ruud Van
Nistelrooy's record by scoring in 11 consecutive games in the Premier
League four years after playing non-league football.
When is his movie coming out?
Chelsea were already in a crisis at the time, but seeing Leicester beat
the reigning Premier League champions was certainly a significant moment
in the season that consigned the Blues to a lowly point in the table
and pushed the Foxes back into first position.
It also proved to be the game that got Jose Mourinho the sack.
Claudio Ranieri promised his players he would buy them all pizza if they
kept their first clean sheet of the season against Crystal Palace.
What better motivation to do it? He kept his promise and threw the entire squad a pizza party.
Arsene Wenger take note.
With
most people expecting Leicester to crumble in their unlikely title
pursuit, many football fans predicted that their trip to the Etihad
would be the one where they'd be rolled over and dumped out of the
race.
The
Foxes ended up blowing the Citizens away from quite literally the first
whistle as they ran out 3-1 winners and shocked Man City fans into
silence.
Wes
Morgan's header at home to Southampton was enough to secure a fourth
consecutive win, which really gave everyone a feeling that Leicester's
title was inevitable.
Champions
grind out narrow victories by whatever means necessary, and their
winning mentality has been a fundamental puzzle piece in their glorious
season.
There's no way this man could be left out. Before he signed for
Leicester, he had never heard of them, and presumed they were a rugby
club.
Indeed,
not many football fans had heard of him before a few seasons ago, but
has now lit up the Premier League with double figures for goals and
assists.
He's more than deserving of his award and we now look ahead to his exciting future.
It
wasn't just Ranieri who was dishing out rewards, as club owner Vichai
Srivaddhanaprabha decided to give out free doughnuts to every Leicester
City fan at the King Power Stadium for their tremendous support over the
course of the season.
